Lura Frances Cogdill was born October 20, 1931, in Harrah, Oklahoma. Her parents, Irene & Carl Solts, took Lura and her brother, grandmother, and uncle to homestead in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1936. They started the Nazarene church in Alaska. In 1942, the Solts moved so the children could go to school in Nampa, Idaho.
Lura attended Roosevelt and Central Elementary schools. She graduated in 1949 from Northwest Nazarene Academy. Two weeks after graduating from high school, she entered nurses training at Mercy Hospital, graduating in 1952. She had a real zeal for her job. She loved caring for patients.
Following training, she attended Northwest Nazarene College (Now Northwest Nazarene University), where she met her future husband, John F. Cogdill. John was attending college and it was love at first sight. They married in 1956 and were lifelong members of the Nazarene church.
Her parents, two brothers, and husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children: John W. Cogdill and his wife, Sandy, Carlene Hansen and her husband, Phil, and Lalani Jensen and her husband, Erik, as well as her grandchildren, Danielle McKinney, CJ McKinney, Sarah Cogdill, Elizabeth Wingert and husband Kendall Wingert, Amaya Jensen-Marcus and her husband, Corbin, as well as her great grandchildren, Kristy Gabrielli, Juniper and Jette Wingert.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life.
A funeral Service will be held in her honor on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1:00 pm, at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel; 404 10th Ave S. in Nampa, Idaho. Interment to follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery.
