Surrounded by her family, Lydia lost her courageous 18-month battle with cancer on 08/16/24 at the age of 48. Born in Oakland Ca. she moved with her family to Antioch Ca. in 1989. After graduating from Antioch High School in 1993, and undecided about her future, she turned to the Antioch Post Office, where she worked for 28 years, both as a letter carrier, and then as supervisor, until her passing. She excelled with her speed and accuracy and her work ethic was second to none. She consumed as much knowledge as she could, not only of her craft, but that of all post office procedures. Being active in the rural carrier union, she was well aware of all the rules and regulations, that would serve her well as a supervisor. She could always be found in her office doing paperwork on her computer, with her bag of Doritos and a Dr. Pepper. Her energy, presence and her proficiency in all phases of postal duties will be surly missed.
In her spare time, she was an avid collector of coins, stamps, dolls and even rocks, were her passion. Also, being a big Star Wars fan, she collected many dolls, figures, and books from the franchise. She also enjoyed attending Broadway musicals, plays and was also a big Disney fan. You could also find her at the bingo halls as she loved to play with her mom and friends.
Lydia is survived by her two beautiful children, son Miguel, daughter Gabrielle, parents Mario and Cecelia, brother Carlos, sister-in-law Jimena, sister Cindy, nephews Emilio and Nocona, and niece Eva.
Visitation services were held for family and friends at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch on 8/29/24. A private internment of ashes will be held at a later date.
