Lyle E. Holloway, 76, of rural Cazenovia, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.
He was born on February 19, 1949, the son of Leslie and Jean (Hess) Holloway. Lyle graduated from Weston High School in 1967 and later married the love of his life, Jan Marie Fry, on July 20, 1985.
A self-employed mechanic, Lyle was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help anyone in need. He loved animals, especially his beloved cats, Ozzie and Gabby. In his free time, Lyle enjoyed cutting wood, reading about history, and deer hunting. Lyle loved spending time with all the neighborhood kids and community members.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Jan Holloway of Cazenovia; three sisters, Elaine, Ruth (Steve) Shaw, and Barbara; a brother, Paul Holloway; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Larry Kretche, Bobby Fry, David (Mary) Fry, Lisa McGlynn, John (Kim) Fry, and Kris Fry; father-in-law, Robert Fry; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Gwen Rebecca Holloway; a sister, Molly Kretchel; brothers-in-law, James Olson, Jim McGlynn, and Steve Fry; and his mother-in-law, Mary Fry.
A Celebration of Lyle's Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Clary Memorial Funeral Home, with Ron Fruit officiating, food to follow. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Military honors will be held at the funeral home by the Cazenovia American Legion Post 491 McNamara-Jasper.
