Lyle R. Vail

Lyle R. Vail, 89, of Littleton, IL passed away at 9:55 p.m. on Wednesday December 25, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on October 16, 1935 in Industry, IL a son of the late Emerson & Helen Johnston Vail. He married Doris Mae Cokenour on May 12, 1962 in Rushville, IL. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2020. He is survived by (2) sisters; Sandra Auten of Colchester, IL, Marilyn Broemmer of Davenport, IA, (1) brother; Karol Vail of Woodhull, IL, a special friend Ruby Rice of Rushville, IL, several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by (1) brother; Merle Vail. After high school graduation he served in the U. S. Army from July 1958 to July 1960. Lyle worked at the Littleton Elevator for 40 years before retiring. After retirement he helped Kenny Nell farm. He was a member of the Littleton Fire Department since 1967 & was a member of McDonough Telephone Co-Op Board for 27 years. Lyle had many hobbies including carpentry and mechanic work. He really enjoyed helping his friends & neighbors. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy Tomich officiating. Interment will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 10: 00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Littleton Fire Department.
