It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lynda K. Beckwith Blattenberger, on Friday, 24
October 2025 in Mercersburg, PA.
She was born in Windham, CT on September 15, 1964, the daughter of Mary J. Kallio and the late Alfred
P. Beckwith, and lived in Mercersburg most of her adult life. She was recently pre-deceased by her
husband, Roger A. Blattenberger.
Lynda was employed as a lead zoning officer with PMCA until shortly before her death. Prior to that, she
served as assistant zoning officer at Antrim Township, fraud warning representative for Citicorp, district
court secretary for Franklin Cty. Court, and deputy constable for Peters Township. She was also co-owner
of Vio-Lyn Plants.
Lynda was active in the community in many ways: as a council member for St. Luke's Lutheran Church,
vice-president of the Franklin County Council of Republican Women, a member of the St. Thomas
Sportsman's Association, and a former member of the Buchanan Lioness Club.
Near and dear to her and the source of many close friendships was her activity in Penn's Woods
Printmakers. Lynda was a talented artist and printmaker who also dabbled in fiber arts, enjoyed kayaking
and gardening, loved her horses and took inspiration from being outdoors, observing the natural beauty
around her and transforming it to art. She was serious and diligent in her work and volunteer activities,
and when she smiled, the whole world around her lit up.
She leaves behind her mother, Mary J. Kallio of Mercersburg, sister Kimberly Beckwith of Westerland,
the Netherlands, and brother Andrew Beckwith of Hertford, NC. She is also survived by her step-children,
Lucinda (Joey) Rupert, Scott Blattenberger, Yvonne (David) Shields; their children Danielle and Jarret
Stepler, Andrew and Nathan Rupert, Chase Heckman, Autumn Neil, Tatum and Tanner Blattenberger, and
9 (step) great-grandchildren.
A memorial service followed by an informal reception will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 15, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in St. Thomas, 5327 Warm Spring Road. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you think about those in need and make a donation to a local food bank or your favorite charity in Lynda's memory.
