Lynda Sharon Smith, born on April 30, 1951, in Mountainair, New Mexico, went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by her loving family. With a very sweet spirit, kind nature, and a heart full of love, Lynda touched the lives of all who knew her through her humility and selflessness.

Lynda's career was marked by dedication and a genuine desire to help others. She spent 13 years in retail where she lovingly assisting customers and helping them to look their best. Later, she embraced a compassionate path as a caregiver, providing comfort and care to those in need.

Lynda delighted in any kind of crafting project, finding joy in refining old furniture, hunting for treasures at estate sales and antique stores, always searching for the best bargains. She was also known for baking wonderful meals for her family, offering nourishment both of body and soul. These creative pursuits and acts of love illustrated the warm and generous person she was.

Above all, Lynda's proudest accomplishments were the roles she cherished most dearly: being a devoted mother to her children, Sharon and Jay, and a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren. Her family was her heart's true joy, and she nurtured each relationship with boundless love and care.

Lynda leaves behind a family who will carry her memory in their hearts forever: her daughter Sharon Hernandez husband Phil; her sister Alma "Snooks" Mand; grandchildren Jennifer Gonzalez, Jessie Gonzalez wife Haleigh, Jacob Gonzalez wife Madeline, Madison Hernandez; Great-grandchildren Tatum Gonzalez, Juno Gonzalez, and Mikael Gonzalez. Their lives were enriched by her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, how her presence shined in a way that was impossible to miss, and her kindred spirit.

She is preceded in death by her father, B.W. Smith; her mother, Jo Frances Norris; her son, James Nelson Thomas; and her brother, Danny Glen Smith.

A visitation to honor Lynda's life will be held on March 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Combest Family Funeral Home, located at 2210 Broadway St, Lubbock, TX 79401. Her funeral service will follow on March 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Living Word Church, 5202 N. FM 1264, Lubbock, TX 79415, concluding at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery.

Lynda Sharon Smith leaves a legacy of love, humility, and kindness that will forever remain in the hearts of those blessed to have known her. Her generous spirit and warm smile will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a shining example of a life beautifully lived.
