Lynn Marie Davis, 63, of Osceola, IN and longtime resident of Union Mills, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her beloved family.
She was born in Madison, WI, on March 20, 1961 to Robert J. and Corrine P.(Kempfer) Hammer.
Lynn was a loving and devoted wife and mother. On August 14, 1981 in Michigan City, IN, she married George, who survives. Also surviving are her 3 children, Hannah (Derek) Dewitt of Osceola, Mary (Tim) Franklin of Lafayette; and Elijah Davis of Lafayette; 7 cherished grandchildren, Clark Franklin, Max Franklin, Ezekiel Dewitt, Rebecca (Cameron) Roberts, Thad (Shayna) Dewitt, Lorileigh Dewitt, and Brandon Dewitt; 4 treasured great-grandchildren, Riley and Parker Roberts, and Zoey and Emelia Dewitt; mother, Corrine Hammer of Waunakee, WI; sister, Barbara (Dave) Sperry; brothers, Michael (Cynthia) Hammer and Wayne (Cindy) Hammer; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Russ) Steen; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother-in-law, Lila Davis; father-in-law, Donald Davis; sister-in-law, Sandra Hammer; and brothers-in-law, Steven Gray and Donnie Davis.
Lynn's life mission was serving, loving, and caring for others. She was a Special Education Teacher for 25 years at La Porte High School, caring deeply for her students and their families. Lynn enjoyed fellowship, music, singing, hiking, kayaking, and traveling with her husband, family, and friends. She had a heartfelt and meaningful involvement in her faith community, including her memberships at Agape Christian Church and St. Mark Missionary Church. Throughout her life, wherever she lived, she opened her heart and home to others. She enjoyed organizing music, Bible studies, coffee shops, and hospitality ministries with her husband. Lynn felt God's presence in her life by helping others sense His presence in their lives.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Agape Christian Church, La Porte with Pastor Ben Crostreet officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 2 p.m. (CST) until the time of service on Saturday.
