Lynn Gilbert, age 87 a long-time resident of Tallahassee, passed away on November 27 after a long illness. She was born in Calhoun County, Mississippi, to Laurice and Drucilla Jackson. She grew up there with her brother Lewis and her sister Ann.
In 1957 Lynn married Henry Gilbert. As her family grew, she found herself moving often due to her husband's job postings.
The family relocated to FL in 1974, and this is where they put down roots. Lynn completed an Accounting Degree at FSU and went on to found a successful real estate firm, Your Showcase Realty in 1981.
She joined St. Paul's UMC and was part of a close and active Sunday School Class. Lynn enjoyed following basketball which she had played in her youth and was an avid fan of all FSU sports.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry Gilbert in 1990, her brother Lewis Jackson in 2021, and her niece Shannon Williams in 2018.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Ann and Keith Roberts, her daughter and son-in-law Gwynne and Buff Searcy, and her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Frances Gilbert and Steve and Tracey Gilbert; three grand-daughters Laura and Michael Manlove, Jennifer and Ben Hettinger, and Kelly Searcy; seven great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Emily, Lizzy, Henry, Gwen, Hope and Micah; nieces and nephews Chad May, Kevin Jackson and his son Ryan, and Kellar and Neely Williams.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 5 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (1700 North Meridian Road, Tallahassee 32303) beginning with a visitation at 1 PM, a service at 2 PM and a graveside internment at 3 PM with a committal for immediate family and close friends.
Charitable donations in Ms. Gilbert's memory may be made to The Salvation Army, 2410 Allen Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312.
