Lynn Elise Jackson

Lynn Elise Jackson of Great Falls, Virginia passed away peacefully on December 31 as a result of an infection, at age 83.

Born on May 28, 1942, Lynn grew up in Herndon, Virginia. She was a self-described "tomboy" growing up, and loved spending time with her friends and her pets. Lynn graduated in 1960 from Herndon High School, where she was a cheerleader. After graduation she worked for a number of employers, including the Smithsonian and Hazleton Laboratories. While raising her two sons in the 1970's, she began working for Fairfax County Public Schools, retiring from this work in 2007. She loved travel, children, and animals, and there were always birds around her home.

She is survived by her husband Ralph Jackson and their sons Daniel and Ted, her grandson, Jake Jackson, her brother Richard Downer and his wife Linda, and many nieces and nephews. Lynn was preceded in death by her brother, John "Jack" Downer.

There will be a service for Lynn on Friday, January 16, 2025 at 11:00am at Herndon United Methodist Church, 701 Bennett Street, Herndon, Virginia.
