Lynnette DeLaune Ourso, 75, of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, she graduated from Baton Rouge High and retired from the Louisiana State Police.
Lynnette was the beloved wife of Bobby Ourso for 56 years and the devoted mother of Robbie (Gretchen), Amber (Jimbo), Judd and Sharon Jones, who she also cherished as one of her own. She was the proud grandmother of Phil, Saylor, Bailey, Maggie, and Jamie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel "Jack" and Louise DeLaune; sister, Peggy Poche; brother-in-law, Jay Benard; and niece, Heather Matthews. She is survived by siblings, LJ DeLaune (OlaKay), Margaret Matthews, Jeff Delaune (Francie), Maureen Bernard, Gabe Poche; as well as eight in-laws, their spouses, and many nieces and nephews who will feel her absence deeply.
Lynnette had a rare gift-she lit up the people around her. She made everyone feel welcome, valued, and at home. Her home was always open, always warm, and always filled with laughter, good food, and love. She had a flair for decorating, a passion for cleaning, and a heart for storytelling. Her favorite word was "precious," and that's exactly how she made others feel.
Visitation will be Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baton Rouge on Saturday, May 24th, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Josh Johnson. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memories on Jefferson Highway.
The family asks that you honor Lynnette by making someone feel welcomed today-give a compliment, share a story, cook a meal, or simply listen. Just like she would have.
