Mr. Lysle C. "Bud" Scott (94) passed away on August 7th, 2025 at the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland, OH, with his daughters by his side.

Mr. Scott was born on March 12,1931 in Cleveland, OH. He was a 1950 graduate of Harvey High School in Painesville, OH, where he was a member of the marching band, the track team, and the Student Council. After graduation, Bud served in the United States Army as a Jumpmaster in the 82nd Airborne Division. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to marry the love of his life, Shirley Winchell, whom he married on April 13,1957. Together, they built a home and raised two daughters in Concord Township.

Bud spent the majority of his career as an electric motor repairman at MQN Electric Motor Service in Mentor, OH. He retired in 1996 from Great Lakes Power Company in Mentor.

Bud was a devoted, life-long member of the First Church of Christ in Painesville, OH, where he served as Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent. He also served on many different church committees during his 94-year membership. Bud was also a member of the Jaycees (Junior Chamber International), the Fairport Harbor Yacht Club, and the Harvey High School Alumni Marching Band. Bud played the trumpet in several local bands and was often asked to play "Taps" at local military funerals, which was an honor for him to perform. Over his lifetime, Bud had many other hobbies and interests which included horseback riding, boating, swimming, roller skating, landscaping, and especially attending his grandchildren's many activities. Bud was very social and loved spending time with family and friends. He was an inspiration of kindness, humility, and humor. With his jovial personality, he spent a lifetime making people smile. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Bud is survived by his two daughters, Sandra (Gary) Pillar and Susan (Todd) Day. He was the proud grandfather of Michael (Caitlyn) Pillar, Kyle Pillar, Rachel Pillar, Jeffrey Pillar (fiancé, Marissa Bertino), Ryan Pillar, Crystal Pillar, and Andrew Pillar. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great-grandchild who is due in September. Bud is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Shirley (nee:Winchell) Scott; his parents, Harry and Lora (nee: Post) Scott; and his sisters, Iola (George) McKeowan, Freda (Mace) Burkhart, and Thelma (Garner) Harley.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:00 am at First Church of Christ, 422 Mentor Ave., Painesville, OH 44077, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville.
