M. Jeanne Huffman, 78, of Marysville, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, September 18, 2025, at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

One of two children, Jeanne was born November 17, 1946, in Galion to the late John R. and Helen N. (Bowers) Poling. A 1964 graduate of Marysville High School, Jeanne went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Bowling Green before earning her Master's degree at Wright State University in Guidance and Counseling. Teaching was her first love, and she taught 6th grade math at Bellefontaine City Schools from 1968-1978, before working as a Senior Editor for McGraw-Hill Publishing for 21 years. After retiring from McGraw-Hill, she moved to Mesa, Arizona, for a time, and was an adjunct faculty member at Mesa Community College from 2004-2013. Never one to sit still, she moved back to Marysville, and filled her time working at Bluebird Retirement Community and UCO Industries.

A woman of strong faith, Jeanne often attended church at Trinity Lutheran Church, and she could always be found humming her favorite hymns, especially Amazing Grace. While her work ethic was strong throughout her years, Jeanne's love for her friendships was stronger. She stayed close with her 1964 classmates and ate weekly with them, as well as her McKinley's breakfast group, and was often found playing cards and bingo. She had the best laugh – her mother's laugh- and the sweetest smile. Once she got to know someone, she opened her whole heart, and shared her great sense of humor and storytelling ways. A night person, there were just some TV shows she could not miss watching, curled up in her chair with her dogs, whom she loved greatly, most especially her beloved, Roxi. Jeanne also had a love for turtles and aside from collecting them, often gave turtle statues and turtle jewelry as gifts to her family and friends. She also gave the best, most loving hugs, like she had not seen you in months even if she just saw you yesterday – Jeanne was truly a gem.

She is survived by her cousin, Norma J. Oler, and her family; as well as many other extended family members and beloved close friends.

Along with her parents, John and Helen, whom she loved very much, Jeanne was also preceded in death by her brother, J. Thomas "Tom" Poling, in 1994.

Jeanne's family will greet friends from 10:00 am-11:00 am on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, where funeral services to celebrate Jeanne's life will begin promptly at 11 am with Pastor Jack Heino officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery next to her parents and brother.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Champaign County or Union County Humane Society, or the donor's favorite charity in care of the funeral home, where contribution cards will be available during service times.

Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve Jeanne's family, and condolences and stories may be expressed to them at www.IngramFuneralService.com.

Rest in eternal peace our sweet friend, Jeanne. We are so glad we got to know you while playing Bingo. I am sure you had quite a warm and furry greeting as you crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We will never forget you. Janet and Ewan
