M. Leon Jensen, 90 of
Buford, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 1, 2026, after a bout of pneumonia.
Born on November 7, 1935, in
Salina, Utah, Leon was the son of the late Moroni and Vivian (Nelson) Jensen. His career spanned 35 years at JCPenney, at one time becoming the youngest store manager in the company's history. Later, he and his wife, Hilda, started two successful businesses: Controlled Environment Packaging, Inc., and Human Assets South.
Leon married his high school sweetheart, Shana Rae Anderson Jensen, on July 14, 1954. Together, they raised four beautiful children and enjoyed a life of adventure and travel, guided by Leon's many promotions at JCPenney, including five years in Brussels, Belgium.
On March 1, 1997, Leon married Hilda Faye Olivet. They spent 26 wonderful years together building businesses and enjoying the best life has to offer until her passing in 2023.
While we lost our most beloved Dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at sarcastic humor, sharing classic dad jokes, never forgetting a birthday, and telling his children and grandchildren just how proud he was of them. No matter what happened between you in your lives, once you were marked as important to him, he would be by your side if you needed him. He was so much more than a father; he was the greatest role model his family, friends, and coworkers could ask for.
Leon enjoyed golf and equestrian sports and supported many local and national charities. He was a Veteran who served honorably in the Utah National Guard (1954-1955) and the California National Guard (1955-1958).
He is survived by his brother, Jerold L. Jensen (Lee Anna) of
Salt Lake City, UT, children Amber Lee Jensen (Ty) of Blairsville, GA, Andrew Leon Jensen (Kimiko) of
Reno, NV, Tyler Lundby Jensen (Jana) of
Suwanee, GA, his grandchildren Lane, Landon and Jackson and many cousins, nieces, nephew and friends.
Leon was preceded in death by his second wife, Hilda (d. 2023), first wife, Shana (d. 1997), and his son, M. Lane Jensen (d. 1986).
Leon's family would like to thank his caregiver, Tammy Evans, for loving him and caring for him with utmost respect and kindness. She was not only his caregiver but his friend, travel buddy, and an ear to listen when it was needed most.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, January 7, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel & Gardens in
Buford, GA.
