M. Richard Mateyka

Dr. M. Richard Mateyka 77, Born in Houston Texas and longtime resident of Rivervale NJ, passed from this world on December 21, 2022. He is now joyfully in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Beloved husband of Patricia Mateyka (nee De Bernardo). Devoted Bother to Debra King, her husband James King and Brother Dan Mateyka. Loving Uncle to Michael Goras, Nichole Tahmoosh, Paul King, Matthew King and Eric Mateyka. Beloved Son of Dr. Milan and Jean Mateyka and loving Great Uncle to 13 Great Nieces and Nephews. Dr. Mateyka was a friend to everyone he met, His love for God and his deep faith in Jesus led him to serve at many diverse Christian ministries throughout his life. Including, Hephzibah House NYC, where he faithfully preached the Gospel at Sing Sing Prison for over 40 years. Dr. Mateyka lovingly served for many years as an Elder at Northern Valley Evangelical Free Church in Cresskill NJ, and on the board of the American Mission to the Greeks (AMG). Dr. Mateyka was a graduate of Wheaton College IL and Fairly Dickenson College School of Dentistry NJ, where he earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry. He practiced dentistry for 50 years, 47 of which were in Oradell NJ. Dr Mateyka was an avid world traveler and visited many countries exploring God's wonderful creation and varied cultures. Above all of his blessings, his close walk with God was his most cherished. Funeral service Saturday, December 24, 2022 at 10AM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell. Interment to follow at Westwood Cemetery, Westwood, NJ. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday 4-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contribution to Samaritan's Purse, P.O.
