Patricia Mateyka (nee) De Bernardo, 81. Born in Passaic NJ and longtime resident of River Vale NJ, passed from this world on December 6, 2023. She Is absent from her earthly body and now standing face to face with her Lord and Savior Jesus. Second only to her faith in God, family was central to Patricia. She was the beloved daughter of Arthur and Angela De Bernardo. She was married to Dr. Richard Mateyka, who passed from this life to the next less than one year ago. Patricia was the loving sister to Arthur De Bernardo and his wife Doris and the devoted sister and best friend to Beverly Goras and her husband John. Sister-in-law to Debra King (nee) Mateyka and her husband Hugh. She was the Loving aunt to Michael Goras, Nichole Tahmoosh, Paul King, Matthew King and Eric Mateyka and their children. Patricia was the loving Great Aunt to her Great Nieces and Nephews. Angela Goras, Michael Goras, Allison Goras, Olivia Tahmoosh, Lauren Tahmoosh, Cara Tahmoosh.
Patricia received her BSN from Pace University and for 31 years worked as an RN at Bergen Pines Medical Center. Patricia demonstrated God's Love by caring for her patients with her kind, gracious heart. Now she is eternally cared for by the kind, gracious and generous Love of God. Patricia's contagious smile and playful sense of humor blessed her family and endeared her to everyone she met. She loved to travel with her husband Richard and together they experienced many diverse lands and cultures. As broadly traveled as Patricia was, she equally cherished her friends and simple cabin in the woods at Camp Oaks in Pennsylvania. Patricia lived a full, love-filled life with her husband Richard at her side and her family and friends always close by.
