Mabel Jacqueline "Jackie" Etheridge

Mabel Jacqueline "Jackie" Etheridge, 86, passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2025. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend, Jackie touched the lives of many with her warmth, wit, and unwavering kindness.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 17, 1939, Jackie was the daughter of John B. Yount and Bama Mabel Yount. Her father worked as a railroad engineer for 45 years, and as a young girl, Jackie often accompanied him on train rides across the South-a memory she treasured throughout her life.

While living in Panama City, Florida, Jackie met the love of her life, Franz "Eddie" Etheridge, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force at the time. They married and built a life together, raising three sons: Mike, Terry, and Todd.

Jackie dedicated over 30 years of service to the Clerk's Office, where she was known for her strong work ethic, warm smile, and commitment to her colleagues. After hours, she enjoyed gathering with friends and co-workers for social hour at the Lamplighter and other local spots. She was a proud and active member of several organizations, including the Women's Club of Chiefland, the Elks Lodge 2113 (Daughters of the Elks), and the Eagles Club.

A true lover of travel, Jackie shared countless adventures with dear friends Paul and Mollie Vessels, Jim and Jolane Mallow, and Paul and Judy Harris. Their journeys took them from the Florida Gulf Coast to the Smoky Mountains and beyond, including many cruises to the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, and destinations south of the border.

Above all, Jackie loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her beloved sons, Mike, Terry, and Todd; grandchildren Krissy, Patrick (Larisah), and Brandon (Kim); and her great-grandson, Koleton. She will be remembered with deep love and fondness by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Franz (Eddie) Etheridge; her parents, John B. Yount and Mabel Crosswell; and many cherished friends who welcomed her home.

Jackie's legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed.
