Mabel Sprunk Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mabel Juanita (Chavez) Sprunk announces her peaceful passing on October 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Mabel was born on July 28, 1939, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she spent most of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose love for her family was unwavering. Her greatest joy came from caring for and spending time with those she cherished most.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Joe Sprunk Sr.; and her three beloved sons, Joseph Sprunk Jr., Dennis Sprunk, and James (Jimbo) David Sprunk.
Mabel's legacy of love continues through her children, Ric Sprunk and wife, Linda Sprunk, Michael Sprunk and partner, Linda Placencia, Martin Sprunk Sr., and Denise (Weda) Altamirano and her husband, Donald. She is also survived by her 84 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Mabel will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the deep love she shared with all who knew her. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 27, 2025, 6:30 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Lomas. Mass will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 8301 Camino De San Martin NW. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Willie Sprunk, Ricky Sprunk, Dominic Altamirano, Joseph Sprunk Jr., James Sprunk Jr., and Elijah Sprunk. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Sprunk, Joshua Sprunk, Daryn Sprunk, Martin Sprunk Jr., Daniel MacErnie, and Jacob Kualapai. A reception will be held immediately following the funeral at Moose Lodge, 2121 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
