Mabel L. "May" Turkovic, 78, of Herminie, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. She was born June 22, 1947 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Charles R. Roberts, Jr. and the late Loretta A. (Reali) Roberts. She was the wife of the late John M. Turkovic and the longtime partner of the late Rick Horvath. Mable worked for many years for St. George Crystal in Westmoreland County, where she made many lasting friendships. She may not have had much in material wealth, but she gave everything she had to her loved ones, and her generosity knew no bounds. May was a strong spirited woman with a unique personality. She embraced life in her own distinctive way. She carried many struggles, but lived with resilience. She had a heart full of love for her family and found joy in simple pleasures. She loved her cats, gardening, riding her motorcycle and scooter, and spending time as parks and beaches. May had a special love for wolves and cats. Despite numerous health challenges, she always put her family first, and offered support whenever it was needed. Her unwavering devotion to her children, grandchildren and friends made her special to all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, kindness, and her willingness to help others. She made an impact on everyone she met, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. She is survived by daughters, Lori Kildow, Susan Futrick, Alice "Twiggy" Keenist and Marcella "Sally" (Andy Casino) Turkovic; grandchildren, Wade and Jesse Kildow, David Assenti, Hannah Staigvil and Ronald Futrick; 5 great-grandchildren, Wylie, Buckley, Jaxon, Calleigh and Lilly; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Shaffer; nephew, Ronald "RJ" Shaffer; lifelong friend, Bella Hinnerman; as well as numerous other lifelong friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her parents, husband and partner, she was preceded in death by many beloved pets, especially Boo Boo. There will not be any visitation. A celebration of Life service will be held a later date. Memorial contributions in Mabel's name may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
