Mable Elizabeth (Liz) Callahan Cole, 91, passed away on Sun. Jan. 19, 2025, following an extended illness at Merit Health Rankin Hospital in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Fri. Jan. 24, 2025 from 10am-11am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am on Fri. Jan. 24, 2025 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS. Graveside Services are 3pm on Fri. Jan. 24, 2025 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodland, MS.

Mrs. Cole was born on Aug. 8, 1933, in Mathiston, MS to the late Clyde A. Callahan, Sr. and Fannie Reed Callahan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Max Murphree Cole, two brothers, Clyde Callahan, Jr. and John Q. Callahan, and three sisters, Zette Terry, Faye Hunter, and Pat Carver.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Cole Watts, her husband Samuel Thomas Watts, grandson, John Barry Watts of Brandon, MS, “adopted daughter and granddaughter, Debbie and Danielle Walters who both reside in Chicago, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cole lived in Houston, MS for most of her life where she operated the Houston Bus Station and Western Union. After moving to Jackson, MS in 1973, she worked as an Executive Secretary and radio dispatcher for many years and was a member of the Jackson Police Reserve. Mrs. Cole was a devoted Christian who loved her family and her church, Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, MS.
