James Edward McAdam, of Fort Walton Beach, affectionately known as "Mac" to his friends and family, passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 1, 1939, in Manistee, Michigan, Mac led a life characterized by service, devotion to family, and a passion for the simple pleasures in life.

Mac's journey began in the small town of Manistee but soon expanded far beyond its borders. His sense of duty called him to enlist in the Air Force, where he dedicated 23 years to serving his country with distinction. Upon his retirement from the military, Mac found joy in a quieter life, yet he continued to contribute to his community in Ocean City, where he eventually retired as the supervisor of communications after a decade with the local fire department.

James E. McAdam is predeceased by parents, James E. and Margaret E. (Lafromboise) McAdam. His wife, Alma "Emily" (Rustin) McAdam.

Those who knew Mac were touched by his generosity, kindness, and courage. His sister, Patricia McAdam-Cochrane, his daughters, Susan McAdam, Jennifer McAdam (Christy), and Linda Myers (Glen), will remember him as a steadfast presence in their lives. Also leaves behind, brothers & sisters-in-law, Aubrey "Pete" Rustin (Molly), Norma Jean McDarmont (Richard), DeWitt Rustin (Brenda). Mac's legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Scott Thompson (Melissa), Shannon Thompson (Brandy), Kathleen Powers, and his adored great-grandchildren, Addison, Alaina, Noah Thompson, Rocco Grandinetti, and Abby Thompson. The newest generation, his great-great-grandchild Skylar Macie Thompson and Matteo, brought him immense joy.

Mac's interests painted the picture of a man who loved life's simple joys. He was an active member of his church, where he found peace and fellowship. An avid fisherman, he could often be found on the water, patiently waiting for the next catch. Golfing was another of Mac's favorite pastimes, a sport that combined his love for the outdoors with the thrill of the game. Mac also loved Disney and Pixar Movies. His hands, skilled and sure, created wonders in woodworking, a testament to his ability to shape and craft both wood and the lives he touched.

No gathering was complete without Mac's favorite treats. His love for jelly bellies, Welch's fruit snacks, and, most of all, ice cream, was well-known among his loved ones. These sweet delights were a staple at family events and a sweet reminder of the man who cherished these moments of togetherness.

Mac's life was one well-lived, filled with the love of his family, the respect of his colleagues, and the admiration of his friends. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will continue to inspire those left behind. James Edward McAdam's story is one of dedication, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to the things that matter most. As we say goodbye to Mac, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless ways he enriched our lives.
