Rogersville: Mack M. Burns, age 92, of Rogersville, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 surrounded by his sons. He was a member of Shephard's Chapel Baptist Church. Mack was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a security guard at the Hawkins County Press. Mack also worked at the Hawkins County Highway Department. He loved listening to many sports events especially the Tennessee Vols as well as announcing high school football games in his earlier years. He was a loving father, grandfather and uncle. Mack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Lenora Byrd Burns; parents, Matthew and Marie Gilmer Burns; brother, Phillip Ray "Red" Burns; nephew, Dean Jaynes.
He is survived by his sons, Terry Burns and wife, Sue, Eddie Burns, and Randy Burns and fiancee`, Pam Russell Wagner all of Rogersville; step-grandson, Logan Sowders; nieces, Tammy Harris, Theresa Breedlove, Lisa Gibbs, Rita Jefferson, Missy Smith, Natalie Wilson, Marsha Byrd Lardin, Christy King and Robin Jones; nephews, Jeremy Byrd, Charlie Byrd, Ronnie Byrd, Phillip Burns, II, Chris Byrd, Mark Byrd and Rocky Byrd; several great-nieces and great-nephews and several cousins. A special thanks to Centerwell Home Health, nurses, physical therapy and the Silver Angels.
Visitation hours will 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Friday, December 22, 2023 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Friday, December 22, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Johnny Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery with military honors provided by the Hawkins County Honor Guard.
