Mack Primm Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burns Funeral Home of Madison on Dec. 12, 2024.
Mack Primm III, of Cherry Lake, Florida, passed from his earthly life on Friday, December 6, 2024, after an extended illness.
Mack was born November 4, 1953, in Monroeville, Alabama, to Mack and Joyce Morris Primm, and after a few years residing in Repton, Alabama, relocated with his family to Madison, Florida. He graduated from Madison High School and after attending NFJC, joined the US Navy. He received several recognitions for his leadership and was the chief of the deck crew on an aircraft carrier. Following two tours in the Navy, Mack worked several years on an oil rig and eventually became a merchant seaman, specializing in refrigeration. He made his home in Coupeville, Washington, during much of this period, but was eventually able to realize his dream to buy land for a farm in Madison County and relocated to Cherry Lake. While working to establish his farm, he and his then wife, Gayle, opened a retail health foods and supplement store in Remerton.
When not working at the store or farm, Mack was fully involved in his community. He attended Cherry Lake Methodist Church, was past president and member of Madison Garden Club, volunteered as a tax preparer with extension service. He supported area businesses and contributed generously to local charities and the needy, often anonymously.
Working many years as a member of the Planning and Zoning Board, Mack served as Chairman for several years. A regular sight (and voice) at County Commissioners meetings, he was passionate about protecting the beauty and safety of Madison County and its citizens, held decision makers accountable and encouraged others to get involved in local affairs.
Mack is survived by brothers Bill (Peggy) Primm and John Primm, Madison; sister Shannon Primm of Athens, Georgia; nieces Jennifer Primm and Sarah (Chris) Cannon, nephews Will and Zet Primm, and hundreds of friends across the world. The family is grateful for the help of his caregivers, Robin Hurst and Big Bend Hospice.
A very rich life that few can even image is how Mack described his life, and those who know him would likely agree.
A private family ceremony will be held at Mack's farm on Saturday, December 14, 2024. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mack Primm, III, will be announced at later date. We hope his many friends and neighbors will then come to honor Mack's many accomplishments, encounters, and acts of kindness over his lifetime.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madison County High School Band Boosters or the Corinth-Deer Cemetery, c/o Faron McKinley, 5356 County Road 61, Franklin, Alabama 36444.
