Mackenzie Niksich Proffit was born in Mountain Home Idaho to Michelle Niksich and her adopted dad Allen Niksich on 17 January 2001. She passed away on 28 April 2025.
Throughout childhood, Mackenzie enjoyed many activities including dance, soccer, swim team, singing, and school plays. A 2019 Mountain Home High School graduate, she excelled in academics, played varsity soccer all four years, and was team captain her senior year. She earned several awards for her writing and was published in the Whistle Pig. Mackenzie's love for animals started at a young age showing her alpaca, rabbit, and chinchilla and winning many ribbons in 4-H. She enjoyed many adventures with her two pups Amyrah and Jiraiya, and more recently added a snake and a lizard to her zoo. Mackenzie's passion for nature and animals was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her desire to connect with the world around her.
Mackenzie is survived by her parents, brothers Andy, John, and Jordan, sister Jessica, her grandparents Mike and Mary, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be missed dearly by the 'nuggets' Emalee, Jillian, Kjnara, and Morgan, her friends Austin and Michael, and her boyfriend Travis. Though Mackenzie's passing leaves a profound emptiness, her fiery spirit and contagious smile will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A memorial service is planned for 10 May 2025 at 2:00 PM to be held at Calvary Chapel in Mountain Home, ID. Reception will follow at 3:30 PM at the American Legion Post 26. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Mountain Home Animal Control Center, 295 NW Elmcrest St., Mountain Home, ID 83647.
