In Loving Memory of Maddalena Fitzsimmons
February 3, 1936 – November 7,2025
Maddalena Fitzsimmons, 89, of Riva, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on November 7,2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Sardinia, Italy, on February 3, 1936, Maddalena lived a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She was the heart of her family-devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George F. Fitzsimmons MMCM (SW) USN (Ret.); her daughters, Rosemary (Randy Stewart), Beatrice (Jeffrey Gilbert), Evelyn (Joe Pauletich), and Paula Brady; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Mario Pintore, of Florence, Italy.
Maddalena was welcomed into eternal rest by her young son, George Francis Fitzsimmons Jr.; her parents, Paola Casu and Francesco Pintore; her brothers, Salvatore and Giuseppe Pintore; her parents-in-law, Francis J. and Evelyn H. Fitzsimmons and sister-in-law, Evelyn Lee Fitzsimmons.
She found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. Maddalena loved fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, traveling across the country, and returning to Italy to visit family and friends. Her warmth, strength, and love for life will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.
A Catholic prayer service will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday November 12,2025 at the Hardesty Funeral Home P.A. 12 Ridgely Ave Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment 10 am on Wednesday November 19,2025 in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery Crownsville, MD
