Maddox Leland Moore, age 14, of Auburndale, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, surrounded by those who loved him most. Maddox was born on August 20, 2010, in Winter Haven, Florida, to Jay "Chris" Moore and Summer Ann Barnes. A lifelong resident of Auburndale, Maddox was a bright light in his community and a beloved student at Auburndale High School, where he proudly played on the football team. His passion for sports extended beyond school - he also played football with Polk Elite and on the basketball courts at the Auburndale Community Center. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lakeland and participated in the Church Neighborhood Ministries, where he built friendships and grew in his faith. Maddox brought joy wherever he went - whether gaming, laughing with his friends, or simply spending time with his family. He had a kind soul and a gentle strength that touched everyone who knew him. Maddox was preceded in death by his sister, Autumn; his paternal grandfather, Marvin; and his maternal step-grandfather, Ed. He leaves behind a family who adored him: his loving mother and stepfather, Summer Barnes and Brian Sherman; his father, Chris Moore; his cherished younger brother, Mason Sherman; his paternal grandmother, Glenda Moore; maternal step-grandmother, Keitha Sherman; maternal great grandmother, Suzanne Kelsch; uncles Corey Consula and Martin Moore; aunt Genger (Paul) Barden; and many extended family members, teammates, friends, and mentors whose lives he touched in countless ways.
As we gather to honor his memory, we will hold close the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves behind - one of compassion, courage, and connection.

Hi my name is Israel me and Maddox were really close friends from the first day of school this year there was no one as good as a friend as him he was my best friend. All year I was able to get to know how good of a kid that he was he had a major Impact on me and many others, I can´t believe that he is gone. I can´t imagine what my next year at school will be like without him. I´m going to miss him very much. I´m so sorry about what y´all must be going through I can´t even imagine the pain that you´re in. I just want to say thank you for the opportunity to know Maddox and once again I´m so sorry.

Sincerely
Israel Davis
