Madeline Grey Dodd, a resident of Ishpeming, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Born April 21, 2014, in Seattle, Washington, she celebrated her 11th birthday this spring.

Madeline, affectionately known as "Maddie" to family and friends, "Mads" to those closest to her, and "Princess Madeline" to the very special people in her life, was a radiant light in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. An extraordinary 11-year-old, Maddie was a student at Lakeview Elementary School in Negaunee, where her laughter and joyful presence lit up every classroom and playground surrounded by amazing staff and all her friends.

On February 24, 2025, Maddie was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia-a moment that changed everything. Yet through the long journey of treatment, including traveling over 1,000 miles and spending more time at Mott Children's Hospital than at home, one thing never changed: her indomitable spirit. Maddie's positivity lifted everyone around her, keeping hearts light even in the darkest moments.

Her zest for life was unstoppable. She loved drawing, painting, spontaneous dance parties, and giving high fives-but above all, she cherished her family with fierce devotion. Her courage and sparkle caught the attention of Detroit Lions player Aidan Hutchinson, who became part of Maddie's world. Touched by her strength, Hutchinson was spotted traveling with a water bottle bearing the handwritten message: "FIGHT LIKE A DIVA MADDIE."

After meeting Maddie in May, Hutchinson crowned her with a sparkly tiara-a perfect tribute to her spirit-and lovingly dubbed her "Queen Madeline." She wore her House of Hutch "UNBROKEN" tee with pride, a symbol of her unwavering fight and radiant soul.

Maddie's legacy is one of joy, sass, resilience, and love. She was a true queen in every sense, and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Maddie had a radiant spirit that made every day brighter and more beautiful for those around her. Her joyful soul shone through whenever she played her ukulele, filling hearts with warmth and laughter. Her unstoppable energy and love for life were especially felt during cherished Sunday football traditions-memories her family will hold close forever.

Maddie's perseverance and passion continue to inspire those who loved her most: her devoted parents, Ashly and Charles; her siblings, Zakary, Hope, and Charley Grace; her beloved grandparents and great-grandparents-Barbara Dodd, Kimberly Manninen, Leonard Pizziola, Margaret Tossava, and Shirley Pizziola-as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles Dodd, great grandfathers, Byron Tossava, and Leonard "Willard" Pizziola.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mount Clemens, Michigan. A private family celebration of Maddie's life will be held in her honor.
