Madeline J. Lennon, 91, passed away on July 24, 2025 at Aspen Trace Retirement Community in Greenwood, IN.
She was born in Hartford City on August 16, 1933 to Robert "Bob" Wesley Blankenbeker and Ester L. (Herron) Blankenbaker. Her dad passed away on June 26, 2006 and her mom passed away on September 11, 1995.
Madeline graduated from Hartford City High School. She married Phillip Terry Lennon on December 30, 1951 in Hartford City. Terry passed away on September 7, 1987.
She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Lennon Custom Butcher Shop.
Spending time with her family brought her the greatest joy. She delighted in preparing her famous beef and noodles for holiday celebrations, cherishing every family gathering. Cooking and canning were among her favorite pastimes.
A devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church, she took great pleasure in participating in church activities and lent her voice to the choir.
Madeline was also actively involved in her sorority and enjoyed attending numerous Pow Wows. An enthusiastic reader, she especially loved flipping through the pages of Reader's Digest.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Daryl A. (wife, Barbara) Lennon of Las Vegas, NV, Scott E. (wife, Carrie) Lennon of Indianapolis and Babett M. Lennon of Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Wendell L. Blankenbaker of Gig harbor, Washington; sister, Shirley L. Gegenheimer of Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her sons, Theron Phillip "Phil" Lennon and Mark A. Lennon.
Funeral service will be at 11 AM Friday, August 1, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 308 S. Monroe St., Hartford City. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City and 10 AM to 11 AM Friday, August 1, 2025 at the church.
