Madelyn M. Brotnow (Midge), 82 passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Midge was the loving mother of Mike (Kelly) and Kathy (Matt), devoted Grandma of Maddie, Jack, Matt, Kent, and Jacquelyn, dear sister of William (Evelyn) Steward and Melissa Steward (deceased), cherished cousin of Georgia (Henry) West, beloved daughter to the late William and Adelyn Steward, adored Aunt, and friend to many. Midge was born in Chicago, graduated from Austin High School and Wright Junior College. She met her husband of 34 years, Jim, at the local YMCA. Midge worked as a secretary in the loop for an insurance company and was proficient in the lost art of shorthand. She took a break from work to raise her two children in the western suburbs and was involved as a school volunteer, the local woman's club, and a member of the church choir. Later in life, she resumed working as a Teaching and Administrative Assistant at Glen Ellyn District 41, until retiring at age 70. Midge was kind, patient, independent, and loved to spend time with family and friends.
Visitation is 4pm to 8pm on Friday, April 11th at DuPage Memorial Chapel, 951 W. Washington St., West Chicago, IL, with a prayer service at 7pm. At this time, there will be an opportunity to share thoughts and anecdotes about Midge. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am at St. John the Baptist in Winfield on Saturday, April 12th. In lieu of flowers, please take a moment each day to tell someone how important they are to you and consider donating to your favorite charity.
