Madelyn Newsome Horne, a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered peacefully into the hands of her loving savior on Friday. February 14, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on January 11, 1935, in Vidalia, Georgia, of the late Columbus Joel and Rayne Ann Newsome. She was greatly cherished by her family and friends.
Mrs. Horne was a remarkable woman whose life was characterized by her unwavering faith and love for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Horne (Jerry), and grandson, Malachi Turner of the home. Her family is blessed to have had her as a guiding force in their lives. Her love extended to her precious grandchildren, Asia Morgan (Hunter) Jamie Wilds (Joshua), Cassie Williamson, Lexi Taveras (Marco), Alexis Horne, and Heather Johnston. She cherished her role, as a great-grandma to Judah, Jolie, and Simeon Wilds, Sawyer Morgan, Aurora Taveras, Nathan, Dylan and Carson Johnston. Mrs. Horne held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, and had nurturing loving relationships with many throughout her life.
In addition to her dedication to her Lord, family and friends, she was a longtime member of Park Hills Church of God in Spartanburg S.C. Madelyn found joy in gardening, crafting, drawing, and sewing and cultivating natures beauty in the world around her.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Wallace O. Horne of 60 years, and her precious sons , Travis Lynn Horne and Paul Wallace Horne and her loving daughter in law, Toni Pannell Horne and her precious granddaughter, Sierra Lea Williamson; brothers, J.D., Talmadge, Hillary, and Horace Newsome; and cherished her sister, Sadie N. Henriksen. The legacy of love and strength that she leaves behind will long be cherished by those she knew and loved.
A Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Floyds Boiling Springs Chapel, located at 4161 SC-9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Following the visitation, a Funeral Service will be held at the same location from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Interment will be following the service at Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
Madelyn's spirit will continue to live on through her family and friends, who will cherished her memory with them as a source of strength and inspiration. She will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered by all who knew her. With special thanks going out to Jenna, Sabrina and Chaplain Reggie Parker with Agape Hospice of Spartanburg S.C.
