Madelyn Petras Obituary

Published by Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home - New Hartford on Apr. 6, 2013.
Madelyn (Pat) Petras, 72, of Oriskany, went to her Lord on April 6, 2013. She was the daughter of Howard (Skip) and Madelyn Murtaugh, of Oriskany. She was a member of the Catholic faith, attending St. Stephen's Church in Oriskany for many years and then the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in New Hartford. She is survived by her husband Daniel whom she married 50 years ago on March 30, 1963. She is also survived by her children, Shelly of Oriskany; Michael and Heidi Petras of Jacksonville, FL, David and Linda Petras of Clinton, and Samuel Petras of Oriskany; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Patrick. Pat was very much a devoted mother and grandmother, enjoying her children all her life. She leaves a brother Charles Murtaugh and wife Nee of MD; a sister-in-law Sandra Dagenais and husband John of MI; her Aunt Mary Lou Rappahahn of Marcy; a favorite cousin, Ginnie Ross of Oriskany. She also leaves Daisy, her kitten she raised and loved with all her heart. The family wishes to thank Mrs. Evalyn Williams Wilkes, RN of Binghamton, cousin to Daniel, for the immense help enabling Pat to spend her last days at home. Pat was a graduate of New Hartford High School. She was employed by Trinkaus Manor as Head Housekeeper for many years, before partnering in business with her husband as operators of Daniel & Sons RCA, Inc. agents for Avis Rent a Car, retiring in 2010. She especially enjoyed her pool parties with her family and many friends during the summer. They all were at her side days during her illness, which she truly appreciated. For many years she was a facilitator for FAP, and Anxiety Support group, helping those who suffered from panic attacks. She was a member of the Senior Center in Whitestown, the Red Hat Society, and a Rotary Ann years ago. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. from Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro, and 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Burrstone Rd., New Hartford, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
