Madie Lee Jefferson, also known as Puddin, was born on May 24, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is the oldest of four daughters born to the late Withers Frederick and Madie Lee Mitchell Pannell. She graduated from Allegany Senior High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was united in holy matrimony to Reverend Ronald N. Jefferson Sr. on September 7, 1960, in Winchester, Virginia. They were blessed with four children: Madie Lee (Angel), Zarventria Jovelle (Vinnie), Marsha Ann, and Ronald Norman Jr. (Ronnie). Her husband preceded her in death on September 2, 2005.

Madie was a faithful member of the Church of God for over 50 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to taking care of her children and grandchildren.

One of her favorite scriptures is Psalm 127:3-5 “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”

Madie expressed her love to family and others through a multitude of selfless acts and sacrifices. She loved visiting the elderly and praising God in song. Madie traveled and lived in many places with her husband during his service to the US Navy. As a Navy wife her travels included California, Hawaii, Guam, Florida, West Virginia, South Carolina, Washington State, Canada, and Mexico.
