After a three year battle with cirrhosis of the liver, we have lost our beloved Mae Carol Boler, 67, of
Union, MS. Carrol passed away in the morning hours of Friday January 31, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Mae Carol Sheffield was born in Meridian, MS on May 25, 1957 to Cecil Robert Lee Sheffield and Annie Mae Ward. She was the youngest of 7 children and was preceded in death by her mother and father, sister, and 3 brothers.
After graduating high school in Gadsden, AL, she went on to study Secondary Math Education at Jacksonville State University. Finishing her degree began her down the path of teaching that she followed for 42 years, where she worked in several different schools throughout Alabama and Mississippi and helped and cared for many different students. She helped countless people through their high school and college math experiences, and she never met a student that she didn't try to help.
She married Harold Boler in July, 1985 and instantly became a mom to Ashly and Chris. She later gave birth to the baby girl she had always wanted, Krystal, in May, 1989.
She is survived by her husband, Harold, 3 children and their spouses, Ashly Parker (Joe) of Dixon, Chris Boler (Brittney) of House, and Krystal Morrow (Kyle) of Horn Lake, 11 grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Larry Sheffield of Thomastown, Alabama and Robert Sheffield of Cuba, Alabama, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, throughout Alabama and Mississippi.
Carol was many things to many different people. She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother to not only her own, but to many in the community as well. She was a sister, a teacher, a mentor, a church member, a friend, and many more things to be sure. However, the one thing that everyone would agree upon is that she was a wonderful woman who brought joy and love to people's lives.
Carol was kind, funny, inspiring, strong, independent, and a ball of fire who would rise to any challenge and stand up to anyone she needed to. Today we honor a wonderful lady who will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Routh, Danny Joyner, Lee Neal, Clai Neal James Leach, George Dean, Jason Laird, Tyler Parker, Cory Wilhite.
