Mae Janet (Schnieder) Richardson, age 97, passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2026, in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Mae lived a life that was devoted to family, friends and sports. She loved to attend the activities at her residence, and to visit with her friends as often as possible. Mae was known as "The Mayor of Roosevelt on Salt Creek", as everyone knew and loved Mae. Mae was an excellent cook, and as a result, was asked to share many of her recipes with her family members and friends.

Born on April 29, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, Mae fell in love with George Andrew Richardson in 1956, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love.

Mae obtained her Bachelor's degree at Northwestern University before getting married, and went on to become a manager at the Prudential Insurance Company. She also volunteered for other activities, such as a crossing guard to make sure that children got across the street safely when heading to school.

Mae was a devout Catholic and attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Elmhurst faithfully. Her many interests included cooking, going shopping for lamps with her best friend, Betty, gardening, canning fruit from her beautiful garden, going to Cubs games with her children, family and friends, golfing, and watching all Chicago sporting events on the television.

Mae was preceded in death by her husband, George Andrew Richardson, son, Gordon Thomas

Richardson, granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Richardon, and her parents, Otto Schnieder and Evelyn Raymond Schnieder, and brothers, Jerry and Daniel Schnieder.

Mae is survived by her son, Douglas Stuart (Tracy) Richardson.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst, Illinois, directly followed by a memorial service beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Chaplain Rick George.
