Szczerba, Magdaline A. (Sweatlock), 94, Mount Union, passed away Monday March 11, 2024, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Lewistown. Born March 9, 1930, Mount Union, daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna (Dill) Sweatlock. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank E. Szczerba whom she married on July 6, 1957, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Mount Union. Also preceded by siblings, Andrew Sweatlock (infant), Frank M. “Jiggs” Sweatlock, Rudy A. “Doodle” Sweatlock, Joseph P. Sweatlock, and John M. Sweatlock. Survived by children, Debra A. Boozel and husband, Douglas “Andy”; and Frank A. Szczerba and wife, Brenda; 3 grandchildren, Frank M. Szczerba and wife, Jennifer; Sarah E. Szczerba; and Nicholas G. Szczerba; 2 great grandchildren, Michael Lee Szczerba, and Peter Lee Szczerba. Mrs. Szczerba was a 1948 graduate of Mount Union High School. She worked at J.C. Murphy’s, Grief Sewing Factory, Genesco, and Robin Footwear. Mrs. Szczerba was the co-owner of the 13th Street Laundromat in Huntingdon, the Mount Union Carwash, and Orbisonia Laundromat. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Mount Union, served 10 years on the Board of Alumni Association, member of the Mount Union Historical Society, and a member of the Bricktown Senior Citizens Center. Family and friends will be received for a visitation on Tuesday March 26, 2024, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 203 W Market St, Mt Union, PA 17066, from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial mass at 12 noon, Father Joseph Fleming, officiant. Inurnment to follow at Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Mount Union. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
