Maggie Henderson Brown, a devoted mother and faithful wife, was born on January 2, 1938, in Raleigh, Mississippi. She passed away peacefully at her home in Byram, Mississippi, on July 3, 2025. A woman of extraordinary character and warmth, Maggie leaves behind a legacy rich in love and dedication, having dedicated her professional life as an esteemed administrator at Pearl High School for many years. Her commitment to education was mirrored in her personal life, where she served as an inspiring role model, having attained the distinguished honor of High School Salutatorian.
Maggie was not merely an administrator; she was a beacon of kindness and an embodiment of generosity, always ready to lend a shoulder or offer a word of encouragement. Her spirit flourished through her passions, particularly in her love for singing in the choir at First Baptist Church of Terry, where she shared her melodic voice with the community. Moreover, her fondness for canning exemplified her nurturing nature, always preserving the fruits of her labor and sharing them with those she loved.
Maggie’s profound devotion to her family was unparalleled. She was heralded as the best mother Rupert Tullos III could have ever asked for, nurturing him with unwavering love and support. She cherished her husband, Stanley Brown, with whom she shared 24 wonderful years until his passing. Together, they cultivated a home filled with laughter, kindness, and unyielding affection.
Maggie's familial ties extended to her cherished son, Rupert, and her beloved grandchildren: Christopher Tullos and his children, Waylon, Kylie, Karson, and Maggie Kate Tullos. In addition, she treasured her nieces Teresa Russell, Becky Tullos Jones, and Julie Tullos, each one holding a special place in her heart.
Maggie's life was enriched by the presence of her late father, George Aaron Henderson, and her mother, Ruby Yelverton, who instilled in her the values of compassion and service that she carried throughout her lifetime. She was also preceded in death by her son Timothy Aaron, sister Ann Tullos, and brothers John A. Henderson and George A. Henderson.
The world is a quieter place with the passing of Maggie Henderson Brown. Yet, her enduring spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of those she touched. The visitation for Maggie will take place at Chancellor Funeral Home Byram Location on July 7, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM, and again on July 8, 2025, from 9 AM until the funeral service begins at 10 AM.
