Margaret M. "Maggie" Hauser passed away on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, at the age of 88. The eldest daughter of Leonard "Snyder" Hess and Marion (Baltus) Hess was born on February 23, 1937. Maggie grew up with her brothers and sister on Silver Lake in Laona, Wisconsin. She graduated from Laona High School and received her bachelor's degree from St. Norbert College. She was an outstanding student and especially excelled in math and science.
On July 11, 1959, Maggie Hess married Mike Hauser in her hometown of Laona, Wisconsin. They eventually settled in Hales Corners, Wisconsin where they raised their own family. In their retirement years, they returned to De Pere, Wisconsin, where they had first met as students in the St. Norbert College concert band. They enjoyed being part of the community of De Pere very much.
Maggie was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner. She enjoyed spending time with family, adored her grandkids, was a magnificent seamstress, liked puzzles, game shows, music, tennis, crafting and was quietly brilliant at everything she did. An incredible mother and grandmother, she is already missed tremendously, but her family is comforted knowing that she is at peace.
Maggie is survived by her children, Susanne (Dan) Geraty, Tomahawk, WI; James (Karen) Hauser, Green Bay, WI and Kathryn (Tim) Slusher, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Mamie and Frank Slusher; Daniel Jr. (Amy) Geraty; brothers Mike (Pat) Hess and John Hess; sister Mary Emma (Dan) Graham, sister-in-law Nancy Hess and many other members of her extended family, including her cousins and her beloved nephews and nieces, and their families. Keeping up with the relatives brought her great joy. Family and faith were everything to Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Myron G. "Mike" Hauser, her parents, Marion and Leonard "Snyder" Hess; cherished granddaughter Kaitlyn, her brother, Leonard G. Hess and her sister-in-law, Judy Hess, as well as many members of her extended family, all of whom she honored in her life.
Family and friends may call at St. Mary Parish, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview, on Thursday, May 8 from 9:30 AM to 11AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow visitation with Father Mike Ingold officiating.
