Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hughes Funeral Home, LLC - Trenton on Jan. 21, 2025.
With profound sadness, we come together to celebrate the life of Maisha Lynn Coon. Maisha's tragic departure was far too soon, leaving a void in the hearts of her loved ones and the city she touched so deeply with her vibrant spirit.
Born on December 6, 1975, in Newark, NJ and later moved to Trenton at the age of ten. Maisha was a beacon of love and light, known for her immense heart, radiant style, and infectious laughter. She was a giver in every sense of the word, dedicating her life to helping troubled youth in her community. Her loyalty as a friend and her boundless kindness were unmatched. She was always ready to lend an ear, offer a comforting shoulder, or brighten a room with her jokes and laughter.
Maisha had a passion for celebrating life and the people she loved. Whether hosting parties or spending time with friends, she created moments that would be cherished forever. Known for her impeccable fashion sense, she was always "dressed to the nines," with her hair perfectly styled: a true style icon whose beauty radiated inside and out. Her love for dancing, partying, and enjoying life was a testament to her joyful spirit.
To know Maisha was to be loved by her. She would give the shirt off her back to help anyone in need. Her warmth and generosity earned her the love and admiration of everyone in the city, where she was affectionately known as a kind, caring, and uplifting presence. Maisha is survived by her two daughters, Quadira Peterson (32) of
Trenton, NJ, and Briasia Williams (24) of Madison, WI, who were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind her loving mother, Donna Coon; her devoted sister and brother-in-law Chekesha and Odell Duncan; her brother, Bryant Coon; her three nephews and one niece; and her cherished cousin and lifelong confidante Dawn Richmond. Maisha's three best friends, Arlene Burgess, Laquanda Tate, and Kendra Grissom, were her sisters ever since that mattered, and they will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will continue celebrating her remarkable life.
Maisha's impact on her family, friends, and community is immeasurable, and her absence will be deeply felt. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched with her love, laughter, and selflessness.
Her light will never dim. Rest peacefully, Maisha. You were truly one of a kind and you will be forever missed
