Majetta Jane Parris

Majetta Jane Parris, age 89, peacefully passed away at home in Acton, Massachusetts on February 8, 2026, while receiving hospice care. She was born on October 23, 1936, in Ailey, Georgia, to the late Leanna (Brown) Hill and Chester L. Hill.

Majetta attended Mt. Vernon High School in Ailey, Georgia and Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, and later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fitchburg State University in 1979. She devoted her career to caring for others, working at Massachusetts General Hospital and later serving for 27 years at the Bedford Veterans Administration Medical Center.

On September 8, 1963, Majetta married Ervin Oscar Parris, Sr. and from this union raised three children: Ervin O. Jr.; Peter A. (deceased); and Nancy E. Parris. She was the proud grandmother of Quentin R. Parris.

Affectionately known as "Jane," she was creative and loving, finding joy in sewing, quilting, and crafting handmade gifts for family and friends. She was known at work as the "Donut Lady," sharing kindness with veterans.

Majetta memory will be cherished by her son, Ervin O. Parris Jr. of Acton MA, daughter Nancy E. Parris and grandson Quentin (Q) Parris of Washington DC; sisters: Alice M. Connolly Lane (Marvin) of Jamaica Plain MA, Frankie Bonner (James) of Ailey GA and Henrietta Geathers (Ronald) of Upper Marlboro MD; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Louella D. Wynder, Chester Hill Jr., Rufus Hill, Billy Hill, Frank Mack Hill, and Clara Ann Abercrombie
