Makayla, "Kay Kay" Williams, aged 24, a beacon of courage and love, passed away on October 31, 2024 in Grand Rapids, MI, surrounded by the warmth of her family's love. Born on September 8, 2000 in Saginaw, MI to Amber Gustafson and the late Mario Williams Sr. Kay Kay was a cherished soul who's adventurous spirit and loving nature touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Kay Kay grew up in a bustling household, filled with laughter and camaraderie of her five brothers: Justice, Mario Jr. with his wife Kamryn, Mason, Malaki, and Quincy; and her two sisters: Miranda and Mariae. She was a doting aunt to her two nieces, Leyana and Za'Maria, and her nephew. Joziah who will forever cherish the moments spent in her playful and caring embrace. Her maternal grandparents, Donnie and Laurie Gustafson, along with her great-grandmother Shirley Cenkush. Her memory will be honored and kept alive by her devoted boyfriend, David Sterns and a loving circle of uncles, particularly Adam Gustafson, Spencer Adams, and Jamaron Bingham, as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins from Saginaw, MI and Arkansas.
Makayla's educational journey was focused on general studies, where she demonstrated a passion for learning and the determination to broadened her horizons. Her interest were as varied as they were heartfelt. As a child, she participated in Girls on the Run, fostering a lifelong appreciation for community and fitness. An avid lover of the outdoors, Kay Kay found solace and joy in visiting nature parks with her family, where she could immerse herself in the beauty of the natural world.
Family was the cornerstone of her life, and she spent countless hours talking on the phone with loved ones near and far, sharing stories, dreams and laughter. She took particular joy in doing her younger sisters hair, weaving strands together with the same care and attention she gave to every relationship in her life.
Kay Kay will be remembered as a courageous soul who approached every challenge with determination and grace. Her loving nature was a constant source of comfort to her family and friends, and her adventurous spirit inspired all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
As we say goodbye to Makayla "Kay Kay" Williams, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on our lives. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the courage to embrace life's adventures. Her memory will live on as a guiding light, reminding us to cherish each moment with the same passion and warmth that she bestowed upon the world. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
