Makia Chipps, 25, of Bismarck, ND, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, in Richfield, MN.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. MDT, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Blue Gym, Cherry Creek. Burial will follow in the Congregational Cemetery, Cherry Creek. A wake will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at the gym with a procession from the 2-mile east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Makia Daija-Tavon Chipps was born in Rapid City, SD, on December 7, 1999, along with her twin brother, Malik Chipps. In her younger years she spent some time in Colorado and South Dakota. Her family moved to North Dakota in 2016. This is where she spent a lot of her time with her family, and friends that became family.
Kia is what she is known by to many. Her bubbly personality, her endless jokes, laughter, and a smile that can light up a room will be greatly missed.
She is celebrated in life by her mother, Manila Chipps and her "Pops", Kerry Mearidy of Bismarck, ND; brothers: Malik Chipps of Waymart, PA, Mataeo Chipps and Dresean Thomas of Bismarck, ND; bonus brothers: Dellrae Pelfrey of Duluth, MN, Geovanni and Julian Tapia, and Ariel Caballero all of Bismarck, ND; bonus sisters, Allie Sorensen; bonus mom, Ressa Hoeroner of St. Cloud, MN; bonus sister, Jaidyn Henry of Bismarck, ND; father, Andre (Rovita) Fosten; siblings: Yolanda Moore-Fosten, Andre'a, La'Vita, Andre' Jr., and Aja Fosten of Wylie, TX; uncles: Anthony Hanson, Walter Hanson Jr., Samuel Hanson Sr.; aunts: Priscilla Hanson, Antoinette, and Prudence Hanson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Makia is preceded in death by her little sister, Marai Thomas.
