Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ideal Funeral Parlor - Florence on Jun. 3, 2023.
Mr. Malachi Weeks Jr. was born in
Mount Clemens, Michigan. He was the first of 4 children
born to the late Malachi Weeks Sr. and Wilma Taylor Weeks. His father Malachi Sr. served his
country in the Army. He moved his family to several states in the U.S. during his service. While
his father was stationed at
Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he met the love of his life, Marian Felton.
They were married on September 30, 1976, four days after she turned 18 and 1 day before he
turned 20. After getting married the couple moved to
Florence, South Carolina, where they have
lived for 46 years. Two of the other important events of his life were when he became a father to
Melissa and grandfather to Morgan.
Malachi or ''BuddyBoy'' as known by family, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother,
nephew, and uncle. Anyone who knew him knew how important his family was to him. He
enjoyed sitting in the yard at the Fourth of July, Family Reunion talking with his siblings and
cousins. He loved to reminisce about the years of watching his daughter and her teammates
play softball. He enjoyed spending his time talking on the phone with his wife when they weren't
together and with his daughter for their twice-daily calls. He also enjoyed sharing his love of
computers with his son-in-law, Cedrik and was quick to give advice when needed. Another of
his recent favorite pastimes was watching and talking to his granddaughter on video calls. His
favorite hobbies and activities were traveling with family, grilling, watching movies, reading
books, and playing musical jeopardy with his wife.
Preceding Malachi in death was his father Malachi Weeks Sr. He leaves to celebrate his life and
cherish his memories, wife Marian Weeks, daughter Melissa (Cedrik) Brown, grandchild Morgan
Brown, mother Wilma Weeks, siblings Juliet Weeks, Juliana Weeks, William (Cassandra)
Weeks, and Dennis (Linda) Johnson, nieces Jessica Weeks, Ashley (Antonio) Clark, Veronica
Dunbar, Lauren (Brad) Lyman, nephews William Weeks Jr., Ronald Jr. (Kayla) Dunbar, Daniel
Weeks, Christopher Goodwin, Dennis (Ashleigh) Johnson, grand-nieces and grand-nephews
Sean Weeks, Colleen Weeks, Nova Goodwin, Caleb Weeks, Natalie Weeks, Sloane Johnson,
Brielle Lyman, Braydn Lyman, Malachi Clark, god-daughter Krystal (Brandon) Smith-Brown, and
children Braylon and Bryce. His close lifelong friends are John (Mary) Vasilakis and Freddy
(Ruby) Lewis. He is also survived by a host of aunts, cousins, and other family members.
Please keep the Weeks family in your thoughts and prayers during their time of bereavement.
