Malcom McLain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Natural State Funeral Service & Crematory on Feb. 9, 2026.
Malcom Orion McLain was born on May 30th, 1955, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Malcom left for his heavenly home February 6, 2026. From the very beginning, he was surrounded by love - and he carried that love with him throughout his life.

Malcom was one of the most patient men you could ever have the pleasure to meet. He was quiet in spirit, but strong in heart. He didn't need many words to show who he was - his actions spoke for him. He was caring, steady, and deeply loving as a husband and a father.

Growing up with his loving grandparents, Momma Geri and Pa, helped shape Malcom into the man we all knew and loved today. They taught him kindness, generosity, and how to treat people with respect - lessons he lived out every single day.

Malcom was the kind of friend everyone hopes to have. He was giving, dependable, and always there when someone needed him. His friends knew they could count on him in any situation, no questions asked.

He found joy in the simple things he loved most - golfing (and yes, golfing again), trout fishing, poker nights, road trips, and time spent with the people he cared about. Those moments were where his quiet happiness shined the brightest.

Anyone who loved Malcom knew that he loved them right back. His heart was big, and it showed in how he treated everyone around him. He was especially adored by his many nieces and nephews, who knew Uncle Malcom as someone who listened, cared, and always made them feel special.

Though Malcom may have been a quiet man, his life made a powerful impact. He loved deeply, gave freely, and lived gently - and that is a legacy that will stay with us forever.

We will miss his calm presence, his steady support, and his loving heart more than words can say. But we are thankful for every moment we were blessed to share with him.

Rest easy, Malcom. You were deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.

Malcom is preceded in death by his brother Bobby McLain; grandparents Homer and Geraldine Collins, Orin and Ester McLain; and his parents Walt and Nancy McLain.

He is survived by his wife Sonya McLain of Searcy; daughter Stacy (Jon) Drilling of Morrilton; son Jonathan (Angela) McLain of Paragould; stepson Joshua Whitley of Cabot; stepdaughter Amber Whitley of Cabot; sister Becky Robbins of Searcy; sister Jan (Eric) Patterson of Pangburn; closer than a brother Jim (Lisa) Alls of Little Rock; grandchildren Dayton Drilling, Phillip (China) Drilling, Ethan Drilling, Aria McLain and Adalyn Brightwell; and honorary grands Jackson McCool and Macy McCool.

A family-hosted celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Revival Church located at 1000 North Maple in Searcy. Visitation will be held at 11:00am with the service starting at 12:00pm.

Closing Note from Sonya:

Malcom, you were my greatest blessing and my safest place. Thank you for loving me so patiently and so completely. Thank you for the life we built together, the memories we shared, and the quiet moments that meant the most.

I will carry your love with me for the rest of my life. Until we meet again, know that you were deeply loved beyond words and will always be in my heart.

Rest peacefully, my love.
