Manuel Wayne Bowman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Wayne Bowman, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. 

Peacefully and surrounded by family, Manuel "Wayne" Bowman passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 9, 2024, while on a family vacation. 

Wayne battled cancer and kidney disease for the last few years of his life and remained strong and steadfast until the end. He is no longer suffering and is walking on streets of gold holding Jesus' hand. Even at a young age, Wayne was a hard worker providing for his mother and siblings. He spent his formative years in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he graduated from Donart High School. Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy upon completion of high school. His navy experience took him around the world on a Good Will Tour. He also served two tours in the Vietnam War on the USS Bronson, a destroyer.

In 1980, Wayne relocated to Lubbock, Texas as a district manager for Little Debbie. He later delivered the US Mail for 25 years. 

Wayne married Phyllis Bearden Ross on April 28, 1994. Their marriage was filled with love and stability. They loved watching football, traveling, going to church, and playing Skipbo in the evenings with their dog Coco by their side. The couple was blessed with a daughter and several granddaughters they adopted and raised as their own. His work ethic and love for his family were unmatched.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Lorene Sadler and George Bowman, and his sister Nora Esparza.

He was survived by his loving wife, Phyllis, his children Andrew Bowman, Michelle Ross, Amanda and Raymond Luera, Haley Ross, Kelsey Bowman, Jessica Bowman, and Savannah Bowman as well as his brother Bill and sister-in-law Sherry Bowman, his sister Christine Carlon and other grandchildren. He had one great granddaughter, Jada Richardson 

Wayne's legacy of love, family and dedication will live within the hearts of everyone who knew him. 

Please join us in celebrating the remarkable life of Wayne, a man who was a stranger to no one, on October 28,2024 at 10:00 AM at Southcrest Baptist Church, Lubbock, Texas.

He never shied away from a challenge, and his love, strength, and resilience touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
