Manuel Cantu Jr.

In Loving Memory of Manuel Cantú Jr., 86, passed away on March 17, 2026, at his residence in Mission, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elpidia M. Cantú; his parents, Manuel and Francisca Cantú; his grandsons, Manuel Orlando Zamora and Matthew Emmanuel Zamora; and his great-granddaughter, Madelyn Cantú.

Manuel is survived by his loving daughters: Rosalinda (Homero) Cantú, Senaida (Raul) Zamora, Amalia (Nayo) Villarreal, Consuelo (†Felipe) Muñoz, Elpidia L. Herrera, and Hermelinda (Roberto) Cantú. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Vidal Cantú and Rosa Zúñiga.

Manuel will be remembered for his love of spending time with family, especially during barbecues, as well as his passion for mechanics and welding. He also dedicated many years as a bus driver for the LJISD. He enjoyed sports such as football and baseball, playing dominos, visiting with his brothers, and spending time outdoors.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Abram, Texas, followed by interment at San Jose Cemetery in Abram, Texas.
