Manuel se crió en El Salvador, estudió en la universidad y se convirtió en profesor universitario antes de mudarse a Garden City en 1980. Comenzó a trabajar en Tyson, en la División de Pieles, donde llegó a ser supervisor. Le gustaba escuchar música, leer, pescar, acampar y viajar. De joven, le encantaba jugar al fútbol y disfrutó viéndolo durante toda su vida.
Le sobreviven su esposa, Emiliana Aquino-Fontes; niños- María Soledad Fontes, María de Lurdes Fontes, Lorena Lidia Fontes, Laura Fontes, Denise Rocio Fontes; hermanos: Marta Isabel Sánchez Morales, Alicia Elizabeth Sánchez de Molina, Carlos Fidel Sánchez y Juan José Sánchez; 12 nietos y 22 bisnietos. Le precedieron sus padres: Fidel Sánchez y Delfina Morales de Sánchez; hermano- Marcial Sánchez.
El rosario se rezará a las 5:00 p. m. del lunes 17 de noviembre de 2025 en la Funeraria Garnand en Garden City. La misa de funeral se celebrará a las 3:00 p. m. del martes 18 de noviembre de 2025 en la Iglesia Católica de Santa María, oficiada por el Padre Jacob Schneider. El entierro tendrá lugar en El Salvador. El velorio será de 12:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. del lunes en la Funeraria Garnand. La familia sugiere que las donaciones se hagan al fondo conmemorativo de Manuel Sánchez, a través de la Funeraria Garnand. Pueden enviar sus condolencias a través de www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
