Our beloved mother, Maria D. Sanchez, 85, of Laredo, Texas, passed away on October 5, 2022 in Lewisville, Texas. She was a military wife for 24 years which included living in Germany and Panama. Maria lived in Northeast El Paso, Texas, for 51 years prior to moving to Lewisville where she resided for 10 years.
She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church while living in El Paso, and St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church in Flower Mound, Texas. She was devoted to her faith and her patron Saint Jude.
Maria was born in Laredo to Rosendo and Amelia Martinez Moreno on March 29, 1937. Maria married Paulo Sanchez on January 17, 1953 in Laredo. She is preceded in death by Paulo Sanchez, their son Paul Sanchez Jr., her parents Rosendo and Amelia Moreno, brothers Rosendo, Rogelio, Raul and sister Yolanda Huckabee.
Maria is survived by her three daughters, Elsa V. Hill (Stan) of Vado, New Mexico, Patricia J. Blasioli (Tony) of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Becky Lujan (Johnny) of Lewisville, Texas.
Maria was a grandmother to Misty, Lisa, Violet, Paula, Johnny Jr., Tony, Starlit, Carrie Mae, Adrian, Brooke, Sterling, John Paul, Rachel, and was a great- grandmother to Alexandria, John Paul, Leonel, Nathaniel, Hayden, Hunter, Makai,Tour, River, Terrence, Sione Paulo, Alayna, Huckleberry, Valentine, India, Isla, Xayvion and Amaya.
Our mother was devoted to caring for those in need, especially her family.
Her favorite pastimes were shopping, playing Bingo, going to the casino, and playing Loteria (Mexican Bingo). She surely was a winner when she played! She enjoyed Mexican novelas, listening to music, and dancing which she was great at.
*Our mother's favorite colors were purple, which she wore so beautifully, and red, the color of the lipstick and nail polish she so loved to wear. In honor of our mother, please wear her colors in some way.*
Visitation will be Friday October 28,2022 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary starting at 6 p.m. at 740 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas 75067.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10 a.m. at 740 Edmonds Lane, Lewisville. Burial will follow at Old Hall Cemetery, 1200 McGee Lane, Lewisville. Arrangements are by Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to American Breast Cancer Society, American Kidney Foundation,
American Diabetes Association,
American Heart Association, or
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The family of our dear mother Maria extends our sincere thank you to Hospice Plus and our mother's nurses, Eunice and Sherez, and her social worker, Jennifer. We thank you amazing women for being so caring, gentle, and loving to our sweet mommy. Also thank you Pastor Mike Messerli of Hospice Plus and Father Raymond McDaniel of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church for your prayers and blessings. Also, many thanks to our family and friends who came to see her while she was ill, and for your heartfelt thoughts and prayers.
