Manuel Gordon Lentine, Sr., a cherished family patriarch, esteemed navy veteran, and master of timepieces, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, in Novi, Michigan. Born on July 28, 1934, in Highland Park, Michigan, Manny's life was a testament to dedication, love, and quiet strength.
Manny grew up on the same street as his future bride, Marjorie, in Warren, where the seeds of a lifelong partnership were sown, in Westland. Their love blossomed over the years, culminating in a joyful marriage on July 11, 1959. Together, they navigated life's twists and turns until Marjorie's passing on November 10, 2023. Manny was a devoted husband who adored Marjorie, and their deep bond was evident to all who knew them.
As a proud navy vet, Manny served his country with honor. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and precision that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for electronic technology and earned a certificate as a Master Watchmaker, a title that reflected his meticulous skill and patience.
Manny's legacy is lovingly carried on by his family: his children, Kathe (Mike) Kucinski, Kim Lentine, Mike (Kelly) Lentine, Karen Daniel, and his predeceased sons, Manuel Lentine, Jr., and Thomas Lentine. His grandchildren, Sara (Rachel), Jillian (Sean), Daniel (Melissa), Ashlee (Jackson), Megan (Tarrick), Jamie (TJ), Bobby, James, Michael (Kaite), Nicholas (Rae), Raquel (Kyle), and Kara (Kurt), will miss his gentle presence and sage advice. His great-grandchildren, Luc, Coleton, Olivia, Mason, Kylar, Clifford, Hayes, and Violet, will cherish the memories of their doting great-grandfather. Manny's siblings, Thomas (Ruth) Lentine, Peggy (Mike) Dytri, Rosie (the late Ray) Tooke, Ruthie Jack, and the late James, Josephine, Russell, and Billy Lentine, remember him as a steadfast brother.
Manny was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words carried weight, often accompanied by a touch of humor that endeared him to everyone. His love for music was a constant in his life, with the tunes of George Strait and Dean Martin providing the soundtrack to many family gatherings. An avid Detroit sports fan, Manny's enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and his love for spaghetti was unmatched-though no dish ever compared to Marjorie's.
Manny's love for his grandchildren knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment with them, especially the babies. He had a special way of connecting with each grandchild until they reached the sassy age of thirteen, at which point he would match their sass with his own brand of humor.
His interests were as varied as they were engaging. He found joy in boating, solving puzzles, playing golf, and participating in family softball games. His dependability and observant nature made him a pillar in his family and community. Faith-filled, wise, and funny, Manny was a beacon of light to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Manny's contributions to the world though his involvement in various associations will be remembered by his colleagues and peers. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus and the Junior Achievement
The world is a little less bright without Manuel Gordon Lentine, Sr., but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones for generations to come. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Manny will be deeply missed, but his memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of those he touched.
