.Marc Curtis Timms, 53, of Owings MD, passed away on October 20, 2025, following a seven-year battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. His loving wife, son and daughter, were by his side.
Marc was born on June 25, 1972, in Cheverly, Maryland, the son of George Timms and Joyce Mothershead (Stewart). He grew up in Southern Maryland and graduated from Northern High School. His career began in 1992, when he started to work at Koons Ford in Annapolis. He was a parts specialist at Koons for over 30 years.
Marc married Barbara Novak in 2006. Marc was an avid Redskins fan, devoting many years as a member of the Tech Support for the Washington Redskins Marching Band. It was that devotion that led him to meet and fall in love with his wife Barbara, who played the piccolo in the band. They married and started their family in Alexandria, Virginia. They were blessed with a son, Marc Jr (17), and a daughter, Liberty (15).
In August 2018, Marc and family moved to Owings, Md where he took pride working in the yard and decorating his man cave. He truly enjoyed watching his children flourish. He spent many weekends watching Jr play baseball and Liberty cheer for the Northern Patriots. Marc was born and raised a Redskins fan. If he wasn’t in the yard, he enjoyed watching any and all sports, sitting in his lazy boy in his man cave. He also had a love for the Washington Capitals and Maryland Lacrosse.
Marc spent the last 7 years of his life fighting cancer. After his first diagnosis on December 25, 2018, he fought for as much time as possible to be with his wife and kids. He finally achieved remission in September 2020, when he was gifted four more years with his wife and family. Marc’s final relapse was confirmed on December 26, 2024. Marc did not lose the cancer battle; he won by living his best life. He loved to say he was “livin the dream.”
Remaining to cherish Marc’s memory are his wife, Barbara; children, Marc Jr. and Liberty; father, George Timms; mother, Joyce Mothershead; brother Stephen Timms; niece CJ; great nephew Colton and great niece McKenzie; as well as his beloved two dogs Navy and Newton.
