Marc Anthony Williams, 54, an artist specializing in graffiti, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence surrounded by his loving family. Born in London, England, he was a loving son of Rosetta E. Williams and the late Phillip Winston Braithwaite. Marc was the beloved brother of twin sisters, Amanda and Amy, brothers, Damian and Akeem and sisters, Georgia and Lashay. He was also the beloved uncle of Elijah, Jadon, Malachi, Christian and Angel Skyy. Marc was the loving nephew of Lynette Freitus, Neil Freitus and the late Aubrey Williams and Oswald Freitus. He is also survived by many "favorite" cousins.
Marc came to Providence, Rhode Island at an early age with his mother and grandmother. He attended Pleasant View Elementary School where he first found his love for education. Marky was so eager to go to the library to learn something new. While at Pleasant View, he began his lifelong journey with
The Special Olympics. Marc was extremely fast and had a real competitive fire in him. So naturally, he won numerous medals throughout his athletic career. His education continued at Birch Vocational Highschool where he graduated in 1992. Marc's love for sports continued after graduation. He joined the Wampanoag Warriors because of their swimming program. There, he not only won medals in swimming, but also excelled in basketball, track and field and skiing.
Marc's accomplishments are endless. He was a champion at
The Special Olympics World games in Minnesota in 1996 for track and field. He represented Rhode Island at the 2006 USA
Special Olympics Basketball Games in Ames, Iowa where his team came home with the gold. They were given a special recognition by governor Donald L. Carcieri for their accomplishment. Marc was a
Special Olympics global messenger. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019.
As much of a champion as Marc was athletically, he was a bigger champion for the Lord. He was an active member of his church doing anything from drumming, singing, praise dancing, reading scriptures and spreading the word about the goodness of his God. Marc was the true definition of love. He loved hard and unconditionally. His legacy will live forever because his love will never die.
