Marc Edward Young was born on June 2, 1957, to the late Dr. Archie R. and Lena H. Young in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. He departed his earthly home on October 24, 2025, at Highland Hospital in
Rochester, New York. Marc attended Baber A.M.E. Church in
Rochester, New York where he loved the members, the leadership and he reflected the life and love of Jesus Christ.
Marc attended the public school system in Montclair, New Jersey. He was an extremely bright student and therefore, he skipped a grade in the primary grades. He was an avid reader of science fiction, and he especially enjoyed reading comic books during his spare time. During High School, Marc was a member of the wrestling team. He also attended one of the alternative schools of the Montclair High School system for progressive and innovative students called the Team School. In 1974, Marc attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. In 1991, Marc earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rochester, and he was nominated by his cohorts as the Class of 1991 Commencement Speaker.
Marc began his long career with Xerox Corp in 1981, in Morris Plains, New Jersey. He began in sales, and his tenacious work ethic carried him through the organization in various divisions and promotions. Marc worked in the Public Sector Organization in NYC, in Webster New York, at Xerox Square, in Engineering and the Printing Systems Group just to name a few. His teams were so successful that they often won Presidents' Club. Some of his projects took him abroad to Europe, Asia and South America. In 1996, Marc attended The Centennial Olympic Games where George Foreman was playfully throwing jabs at Marc because he mistook him for Denzel Washington when he attended the boxing event. Marc was considered a "hands-on," kind, and supportive senior manager at Xerox and he was a proud member of M.A.M.E. Marc enjoyed his tenure at Xerox, and he established many lasting friendships over the years. He retired from Xerox as a Vice President in 2016 in
Rochester, New York.
After dating for several years, on April 5, 1986, Marc married the love of his life, Lisa A. Henderson, and two sons were born to this union. Marc and Lisa moved from New Jersey to
Rochester, New York, where they enjoyed the growth and development of their sons Archie and Bradd. Marc emphasized the importance of music and culture with his sons. The family became members of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and over the years, they traveled to different countries on family vacations. Family was very important to Marc; he valued his six siblings, loved his in-laws and cherished the childhood relationships established from his hometown.
Marc believed in helping others in the community. He was a humanitarian. He volunteered at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rochester where he developed resumes and conducted interviews for individuals seeking employment. In 2016, Marc's enjoyment of comic books manifested itself in the sponsorship of a Comic Book Club at John Williams School No. 5. He volunteered on a weekly basis as an advisor for the club from 2016 to 2018, providing comic books for the students and taking them on year-end field trips. Marc also enjoyed cooking. In 2020, he became the co-Director of Baber's Community Meal Program, which cooks and serves meals to the needy of the Rochester community. Marc also cooked for members of the church who were homebound or in need. He was a kind man, a good role model and had a positive impact on society.
Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Archie R. and Lena H. Young; brother – Archie, and his in laws, John and Anne Henderson. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife Dr. Lisa (40) yrs, two sons; Archie Young and Bradd (Catherine Golini) Young, Four sisters; Jacqeline Harper, Octavia (Gregory) Wilson, Gloria (Kyle) Dickinson, Jodi Young, One brother; Bradd (Karrie Branch) Young; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
